Annual Financial Reports
It is customary at this time of the year, for parishes to present their Annual Report to their parishioners. The Annual Report is a compilation of the parish financials from the previous year, as well as other information which may be of interest to our parishioners.
This past year, our Collaborative staff participated in Evangelization and Leadership Training sessions. The Evangelization sessions assisted our staff in fully understanding the Pastoral Plan of the Archdiocese entitled “Disciples in Mission.” At the core of the Pastoral Plan is the effort to revitalize the Church in Boston by positioning parishes and schools more solidly for the task of Evangelization – the work of reaching out to our brothers and sisters and drawing them more fully to Christ Jesus. Our staff was presented with invaluable tools which will assist them in their efforts to draw in more of our brothers and sisters in Lynn and in the surrounding communities to participate in our Collaborative parishes and school and come to know their God more fully.
The Leadership Training sessions offered our staff assistance and direction in becoming active and vital leaders of our Collaborative and offered them ways by which they may work together to lead our Collaborative in positive ways.
Our Collaborative is currently in the process of preparing a Mission Statement which will reflect who we are now as a Collaborative and where we hope to be in the future. As this process continues and our Mission Statement is finalized and submitted to Cardinal Sean, we will be sharing it with all of our Collaborative family.
This year also saw the creation of a new, collaborative Parish Pastoral Council to assist and advise Fr. Brian and Fr. Tamiru in many different areas. Representatives from St. Mary Parish and Sacred Heart Parish, as well as Sacred Heart School, all answered the call to offer their time and talents to this most important Council.
In addition, a collaborative Finance Council was created to offer vital financial assistance and counsel to Fr. Brian. We continue our efforts to be good stewards of your generosity to our Collaborative, and strive to provide financial transparency to you on a regular basis. To that end, annual budgets and reports will be prepared and shared with our parish and school communities. Consistent with Archdiocesan guidelines, our Grand Annual Drive will be implemented every October.
As with your own households, the Collaborative has its own set of monthly, financial obligations. The programs, activities and ministries that we offer at our parishes and the quality Catholic education we offer to our young people at Sacred Heart School, are all vital to our being an Evangelizing and welcoming Collaborative. We also have extensive property to maintain in order for us to be a welcoming presence to those who are part of our community and to those who may be seeking a new community in which to worship. We struggle each year to meet our financial challenges. It is only through your generosity that we are able to offer and expand our liturgies and worship opportunities, enhance our spiritual enrichment programs and handle capital projects as may be necessary. We ask that you continue to support our Collaborative as generously as you are able.
As we move forward together as the Lynn Catholic Collaborative of St. Mary and Sacred Heart Parishes and Sacred Heart School, I wish to thank you for your presence at our liturgies each week, for your offer of time and talent in our many ministries, and for your continued generosity which assists us in bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to all.
Sincerely in Christ,
