As of May 2025 the age for Confirmation in Boston has been changed from 11th to 8th grade.
This means that we need to look at different groups as we implement this change. Please look at what group you or your child is in to find the correct preparation information ('current' means for the 24/25 school year):

Current 11th Graders who have completed the two years of preparation: You will be Confirmed this October 2024. If you have not emailed Chris Carmody to confirm that please do as soon as you can. 

Current 10th Graders who have completed one year of preparation and the retreat: You will be Confirmed this October 2024. Please email Chris Carmody with questions or to sign up for the retreat in September 2024.

Current 10th, 11th, and 12th Graders who have not completed any preparation: There are different options to help you prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please contact Chris Carmody to discuss which one will be best for you.

Current 7th, 8th, and 9th Graders: You will have one year of preparation and a retreat so that you will be prepared to be Confirmed in Fall 2025. The dates and expectations for Confirmation are below.

Current 6th Graders: You will have two years of preparation so that you will be prepared to be Confirmed in Fall 2026, when you are in the 8th grade. The dates and expectations for Confirmation are below.

Adults (anyone older than high school age): It is never too late to receive a Sacrament, and we can help you to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please contact Chris Carmody to learn more.

24/25 Preparation for Grades 6-9
There will be three parts to preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation:
1. The first and most important expectation is participating in the weekend Masses with our parish community.  By coming to Mass we have the opportunity to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ by hearing His Word and receiving His Body and Blood in the Eucharist, as well as by growing in our relationship with the other Catholic Christians that we are praying with. We have several Masses each weekend (Click HERE for the Mass schedule) to meet everyone's schedule.
2. The second expectation is participation in our parish community events and activities. Being a part of a parish community is more than only coming to Mass. We have a variety of events throughout the year including monthly Disciples in Motion activities, our annual Advent Concert during the Advent season and Mardi Gras Party before Lent starts, Stations of the Cross during lent and Living Stations on Good Friday.
3. The third expectation is attendance and participation in our preparation meetings: We will meet on only nine Friday evenings from 6-7:30pm in St. Mary's Hall, where we will discuss the Holy Spirit, our relationship with Jesus Christ, and the Sacrament of Confirmation. While everyone has busy schedules, we have found that Friday evenings are best for middle schoolers and families. Here are the dates for the 24/25 school year...September 20, October 25, November 8, November 22, December 6, January 10, January 24, February 7, May 9.
